A petite pre-teen from a rural west Texas town hopes topropelher Christian singing role in a brand-new national competition called ?America?s Christian Talent?. The contest delivers performances by this Christian Singer , and a lineup of other faith-based acts performing in the internet venue competition.
The Christian Singer is twelve year old Shelby Comey of Mason, Texas, located west of Austin. Comey is displayed doing a spirited version of Darrell Evans? worship standard ?Trading My Sorrows?, taped in her living room by her mom Heidi.
Comey?s singing experience began in the second grade when she delivered the National Anthem for her local high school basketball game. She has been performing publicly around Texas at rodeos, sporting events and at ?Oprys?, which include country and western-style music. Last September she wonthe Colgate Country showdown in Fredericksburg, rivalling against nine other singers.
The young Christian Singer has travelled often to Nashville, Tennessee to perform at various music venues including Nashville Spotlight, Nashville Palace and Johnnie A?s. Comey is a natural on stage and in front ofcrowds, and has a powerful voice one would not expect. She has been studying her voice lessons and loves to give recitals when she?s not involved as school cheerleader and other sports activities during and after school.
Shelby stated, ?I am a Christian and also have sang worship music for my church several times. I love to exhibit heifers and hogs. I am a cheerleader and love basketball. I would like to sing as a living but at this time I simply do it just for fun and also to make people happy. It is very exciting that I can be a part of this contest being what I?m best at, a Christian Singer ?.
The focus of America?s Christian Talent drew the young Christian Singer to the contest, as it delivers talent which is ?faith-based? or borne of the contestants? spirituality and faithfulness to Jesus Christ. It?s an opportunity for Comey and other contestants to extol their faith although showing the nation their God-given abilities before a big audience.
